Watson's journey back to the field this season is nothing short of inspiring. After suffering a torn ACL in his knee during the 2024 regular-season finale last January, he fought his way back, returning to game action in late October. Since then, he's showcased his talent, catching 30 passes for 498 yards and an impressive five touchdowns in just nine games.
But here's where it gets even more remarkable: Watson also battled through shoulder and chest injuries sustained just a couple of weeks ago. He didn't let those setbacks keep him down, returning to play last Saturday night in Chicago, where he caught two passes for 17 yards.
When asked about the award, Watson expressed his gratitude, saying, "It means a lot for sure. Anytime you get any kind of recognition for the work that you put in, I feel like it definitely just brings a little bit more to it for sure. Obviously just to have been through that, that was tough in itself and I'm reaping the reward of just being able to go out there and play. It definitely means a lot as well just to be recognized for that work that I put in."
The Ed Block Courage Award, established over 40 years ago, is named in honor of Ed Block, the head athletic trainer for the Baltimore Colts from 1954-77. Block's bravery extended beyond the football field; he earned a Purple Heart for his service in World War II under General George S. Patton.
