Ariana Grande recently expressed her feelings about a particular piece of merchandise linked to the upcoming films "Wicked" and its sequel, "Wicked: For Good," stating that she found it somewhat unsettling.
During her appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," the talented singer and actress shared her excitement about the holiday season and the anticipated gifts that fans might discover this year inspired by the hugely popular musical. However, she couldn’t help but poke fun at a specific item that caught her off guard.
"First of all, my mom seems to have acquired everything possible related to it," Grande humorously remarked. "She went a bit overboard. I told her, ‘It’s all right; Universal will send us plenty, really!’ Yet, she insisted, ‘No, no, no! I need, like, 30 of them!’"
As she discussed the various products available, Grande mentioned that some of them were, in her words, “a little disturbing.” She specifically referred to an item that featured a pink and green color scheme, describing it as macaroni and cheese.
"That’s when I realized, ‘Oh wow, this is a bigger deal than I initially thought,’" she recalled.
Grande was likely talking about Walmart's quirky product called "Mystery Color Macaroni & Cheese," which debuted last year following the first film's release. A review from Sporked around that time humorously noted that it was simply store-brand microwavable mac and cheese, raising eyebrows about what shoppers might expect from it.
On a more serious note, Grande also spoke warmly about her experiences filming both "Wicked" movies, describing the process as incredibly fulfilling from a creative standpoint. She took a moment to praise director Jon M. Chu, referring to him as "the perfect leader" due to his thoughtful and precise vision for the films, while also fostering a playful atmosphere that encouraged improvisation.
This weekend, Grande will be reuniting with her fellow cast member, actor and comedian Bowen Yang, as she takes the stage to host "Saturday Night Live." This episode reportedly marks Yang's final appearance on the show.
At the time of her conversation with Meyers, Grande had just completed filming promotional videos for "SNL" alongside Yang and the evening's musical guest, legendary performer Cher.
While Grande has previously collaborated with icons like Mariah Carey and Madonna, she described meeting Cher as a particularly thrilling experience, even though she kept details about their potential joint appearance on "SNL" under wraps.
"She’s truly one of a kind," Grande gushed. "It was such a spectacular moment; she is just brilliant. I can hardly contain my excitement!"
