Apple Unveils Enhanced AirTag with Extended Range and Louder Speaker
Apple has finally unveiled the long-awaited AirTag upgrade, addressing user feedback with a host of improvements. The original AirTag is receiving a much-needed refresh, boasting a higher range for locating items and a louder speaker for pinpointing the location of lost items. This upgrade is now available at the same price as previous models: $29 for a single AirTag and $99 for a four-pack.
Despite the enhancements, Apple has retained the AirTag's familiar design, focusing on usability. The device utilizes the same ultra-wideband chip found in recent iPhones and Apple Watches, enabling a more powerful Precision Finding feature. This feature now operates from up to 50% farther away than the previous generation, ensuring users can locate their items with greater ease. Moreover, the latest Apple Watches are now compatible with Precision Finding, allowing users to track items directly from their wrist.
The new AirTag also features a 50% louder speaker, enhancing the user experience. It integrates seamlessly with the Share Item Location feature in the Find My app on iOS, enabling secure and temporary sharing of an item's location with third parties, such as airlines for lost luggage tracking. While this upgrade may not be the groundbreaking foldable iPhone reveal expected in 2026, it marks a significant step forward for Apple, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
